If you’ve received a letter in the mail confirming your enrollment with Vaya Health, we are here to welcome you, and help you learn more. Your new Vaya Total Care, a Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Development Disabilities Tailored Plan, will include services and support to help you care for the whole you. Vaya Health Plans

Vaya Total Care Tailored Plan for Medicaid Members

For Medicaid and NC Health Choice beneficiaries with serious mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, severe substance use disorder, intellectual/ developmental disabilities (I/DD), or a traumatic brain injury (TBI):

  • Physical health care services
  • Pharmacy benefits
  • Mental health services
  • Substance use recovery services
  • Intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) services
  • NC Innovations Waiver services
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) services
  • Long-term services and supports (LTSS)
  • Dedicated care manager

For qualifying North Carolina residents with no insurance, or not enough insurance:

  • Mental health services

NC Medicaid Direct Beneficiaries

Some Medicaid beneficiaries do not need to enroll in a managed care plan. These people will be enrolled in Medicaid Direct, which means they will get their physical health and pharmacy services through NC Medicaid, and the following services through Vaya Health.

  • Mental health services
  • Substance use recovery services
  • I/DD services
  • NC Innovations Waiver and TBI Waiver services (for tribal members who opt out of managed care)

The Vaya Health Tailored Plan (Vaya Total Care) launches in 2024.

How can I receive services?

Finding care can be confusing sometimes. At Vaya Health, we make it easier.

The process can start with a phone call to our Member and Recipient Services line at 1-800-962-9003 (available Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.). You can receive referrals to providers, find information about community organizations, request services or get help in a crisis.

We suggest you save our Member and Recipient Services number on your mobile phone or write it on something you will always have with you. This website also contains information about what benefits may be available to you or a family member.

Remember: If you have a medical or life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department immediately. For individuals who are hearing-impaired, dial 711 to reach NC Relay.

Need help finding a health care provider? We have an easy-to-use search tool that makes it simple to locate a provider near you who is in tour network.

If you need help or prefer to speak to someone on the phone, call our Member and Recipient Services line at 1-800-962-9003 (available Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

Need to find free or low-cost non-medical help in your area? You can search our database, and members can also call our Member and Recipient Services line at 1-800-962-9003 to speak with someone about receiving a referral.

Local behavioral healthcare providers operate these centers, which also provide 24/7 mobile crisis management. You can reach your mobile crisis team by calling our Behavioral Health Crisis Line at 1-800-849-6127 any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or search by location.

Crisis Support

Anyone living in our region can our toll-free, our Behavioral Health Crisis Line at 1-800-849-6127 any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your call is confidential. You will speak with a trained professional who can provide immediate crisis intervention by telephone and arrange a face-to-face assessment, based on need, for Vaya Health members. For individuals who are hearing-impaired, dial 711 to reach NC Relay.

If you are not enrolled in Medicaid or NC Health Choice, you can find out if you are eligible by contacting your county’s Department of Social Security (DSS) office. A list of DSS offices is available on the NCDHHS website.
