Child Abuse Prevention Efforts at Vaya Health

April marks National Child Abuse Prevention Month in the United States, a significant time to focus on protecting children and promoting family wellness.

Vaya Health recognizes the vital role that prevention plays in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in our communities. Through our partnership with Prevent Child Abuse NC, we are committed to advocating for youth and family support initiatives that aim to create a brighter, safer future for our children.

Prevention is not intervening after the fact; it’s about building strong communities that prioritize the safety and well-being of all children, and equipping families with the resources and support they need.

One area where prevention efforts are particularly crucial is within the foster care system. One in six children involved in the foster care system have experienced physical abuse. While we may not always be able to prevent children from entering foster care, we can work tirelessly to create a system that identifies and addresses abuse, while also providing the necessary support for healing and recovery.

Vaya’s Pathway to Permanency program is dedicated to helping children and families involved in the foster care system find the support, treatment, and resources they need for long-term stability. By collaborating with community partners and a network of providers, we strive to strengthen and preserve families by addressing challenges and removing barriers to permanency.

Whether it’s through advocating for policy change, volunteering your time, or simply being a supportive neighbor, there are countless ways to make a difference. Vaya offers a range of services and resources for families in need, and we are here to help.
