Vaya Health: Serving those who’ve Served our Nation

Vaya Health is honored to stand with the nation in paying tribute to veterans who have served selflessly to ensure the safety and freedom of others.

Vaya maintains a year-round commitment to North Carolina’s military community by providing critical support and care through ongoing partnerships with the NCServes network and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). As a dedicated partner and provider of the NCServes network, Vaya works alongside NCDHHS to provide care and develop essential resources for North Carolina’s military community.

NCServes is North Carolina’s first coordinated network of public, private, and nonprofit organizations working together to serve veterans, service members, and their families. The network organization provides health benefits navigation, clothing and household goods, employment, food assistance, housing and shelter, income support, individual and family support, legal services, money management, and physical health.

“At Vaya Health, we are passionate about improving the health of the communities we serve, and that includes the health and well-being of veterans in North Carolina,” said Tracy Hayes, Area Director and CEO of Vaya Health. “We are privileged to help veterans by coordinating services through statewide partnerships, learning directly from veterans about their needs, and participating in veteran initiatives in our local communities.”

Throughout National Veterans Month in November, Vaya care managers participated in Stand Down events in Caldwell, Macon, and Yancey counties – providing additional resources and supplies to veterans impacted by Hurricane Helene. Stand Down events connect local veterans with health care referrals, benefits consultation, legal education, mental health and substance use counsel, spiritual guidance, employment help, housing assistance, and more.

Vaya’s commitment to veterans extends beyond a single day or month. Ongoing veteran initiatives include:
