Vaya Shares Progress on Adventure Awaits Foster Care Recruitment Campaign

May is National Foster Care Month, a time to focus on the nearly 370,000 children and youth in foster care across the country. As the month ends, Vaya Health shares the initial response and impact of its two-month-long foster care recruitment Adventure Awaits campaign. The campaign took shape to help local Department of Social Services (DSS) offices and privately licensed child-placement agencies raise awareness for the critical need of foster care parents statewide. 

Throughout January and February, Vaya equipped local agencies and partner organizations with inspirational videos, social media posts, informational graphics, and other marketing resources to be used throughout communities to raise awareness and draw attention to the growing need for foster parents. 

The campaign successfully reached over 500,000 users through social media, sharing the unique stories and journeys of real-life foster parents across the state and encouraging others to embrace the awaiting adventure that comes through fostering. 

After its launch, one foster care advocate took to social media, saying, “the Adventure Awaits campaign highlights the importance for a foster child and parents to have the continued support and love of the foster parents.”

Another advocate said, “Coming from an amazing foster mom who gives 100 percent of herself to her foster kids… the world needs more foster parents like those in these videos!”

“This recruitment initiative truly wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our partner agencies, organizations, and community stakeholders,” said Ashley Parks, Child & Treatment Continuum Director at Vaya. 

“Though Adventure Awaits has wrapped up, the need for foster care parents is still critical,” continued Parks. “Vaya looks forward to continuing to raise awareness and helping provide local communities with the resources they need to recruit additional foster parents through its longstanding Pathways to Permanency Program.”
